Zacariah Taylor Dillon 1849-1900
Henry Dillon (1655-?) of New Kent County VA may be the oldest known patriarch of this family... but I'm still trying to determine the parents of Zachariah Taylor Dillon, born about 1849 in VA. He died in the first part of 1900 in, probably, Cabell Co., WV. He is the Mystery Man in my Dillon tree. He does though, seem to be part of that large Dillion/Dillon family from Franklin Co. VA around the mid to late 1700's, but just can't quite plug him in yet. After much research and eliminations, it is logical he's the son of Samuel Dillon & Francis Dillon(who were 1st cousins) of Franklin County Virginia.
The 1880 Wayne County WV census shows him 25 years of age, & married to Tennessee Haynie, and living next to her parents, probably on the same farm. Tennessee was born 1859, in Wayne Co. WV, & died March 1937, in Cabell Co. WV. She was the daughter of William D. Haynie, born 1831, & Elizabeth Plymale, of Wayne Co. She married Zacariah Taylor Dillon about 1876 or before.
I've uncovered three possible birth dates for him, 1849, 1851, & 1855. But until I'm able to locate an actual birth, death, or marriage record, I'm going with with the one on his cemetery marker, which would be 1849.
