I don't know if we're related or not. I descend from Johannes George Shook, through his son George, then John Shook. Our bunch was in North Carolina for a while (Catabwa Co), then moved into Blount Co., Tennessee, then around the Civil War into McMinn Co., Tennessee, and then just before 1900 moved into Texas. My Great Grandparents were William Henry Shook and Margaret Ann Shields Shook. They had 13 children, one of which was my grandfather Garner Jordan Shook. But your site was very interesting and I've bookmarked it in case something comes up to make us "cousins". |

Date: Wed, 24 Feb 1999 09:19:13 -0800 (PST) Name: Jeanne L. Bair e-mail Add: mammabgabs@yahoo.com Rating: xlnt Comments: I have been researching the BLANK family. Most of them were from Shookstown in Fredrerick. Across from the Blank homestead lies where the Shook family homestead is. Years ago my husband and I visited the Shook Family Cemetary hoping to find some of my relatives there. Most of my family are buried on the Kemp Family homestead cemetary. While reading this site I found many of the names that are in my family tree. Staley, my ggrandmother was a Hargate, Stull and Dillon were among a few of them. Acording to my research most of my family roots that contain these names came out of the line of John Fox buried in Brookside Methodist Church in Yellow Springs and George B. Dillon who is also buried there. Over the years it has been much easier for me to research mothers mothers rather than the surname Blank. George B. Dillon was my gggrandfather, he was born in PA, where I don't know, he has been a real mystery for me. He married Susanne Fox who was born in Fredrerick. Her father was John Ezra Fox who married Mary Elizabeth Hugheson 10-9-1834. I have Georges civil war record and his papers of pension. He was born 1838 and died in 1889 in Frederck. He also used the name George B. Fox, why I don't know, but the records that was sent to me from Washington (military records) revealed this. Have you by chance you come across this man? Any information you could share, I would be grateful. |
