The SHOOK family name is actually an Americanized spelling for peoples of German, Dutch, Swiss, & Austrian origin. The original European names were probably Schök, Schuch, Schuh, or Schoch. Some other spellings found in America are Shuck & Schuck.

The ancestry on these pages is dedicated to Peter Shook, 1772-1855, born & died in Frederick Co. Maryland, & his hundreds of decendants. Nor should we forget all the wives, & thier ancestral families; while not being born into the Shook family name, were just as much a contributor to the bloodline.
